The clarification was issued in response to a report that appeared in Hindustan Times on February 27 which had said that preliminary enquiries have revealed that the controversial tapes involving conversations of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia may have been leaked by I-T department officials.

The report explained the mechanics of the leak and did not name any person or official. We stand by the facts in the report that were verified with independent knowledgeable sources.
