“CBI officials cited the Supreme Court order that bars the agency from sharing any information about the coal block allocation probe with any authority or person as it is being monitored by the apex court,” said a source.

The CVC is mandated under the law to have superintendence over corruption cases being investigated by the CBI. During Tuesday’s review meeting, when the vigilance commissioners asked for details of coal block allocation probe, the agency officials said they cannot share the same as the SC had instructed them not share any information about it, say sources.

“The CVC officials said they might move the apex court to become a party to coal proceedings as besides monitoring the coal block allocation probe, the SC is looking into the issue of CBI’s autonomy as well,” the sources added.
