CBI to ask pak to hand over Dawood, IC-814 hijackers

"Everybody knows that he is in Pakistan and we will definitely seek him," said a top Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer. The agency will be represented by its joint director (STF) Rajiv Sharma.

The CBI will also ask Pakistan to hand over five Pakistanis who had hijacked flight IC-814 operating from Kathmandu to New Delhi on December 24, 1999, on the instructions of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). According to agency sources, at least 15 accused in the CBI cases have been hiding in the neighbouring country. But Pakistan has always maintained that Dawood or other fugitives are not on its soil.

Besides the CBI representative, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief SC Sinha will also be part of the Indian delegation. According to sources, NIA is going to take up the issues of fake Indian currency notes (FICNs) and pending investigation of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The NIA will ask for transfer of evidence gathered by the Pakistani side during their investigation into the 26/11 attacks. Pakistan is conducting a separate trial in the 26/11 accused.

The NIA suspects that Pakistani state agencies are involved in the printing of FICNs. A western Uttar Pradesh native Iqbal Kana is biggest FICN operator in Pakistan.
