Chartered accountant held for thrashing pet dog

“He has been booked under Sections 428, 429 of the IPC and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” the spokesperson at SSP command room added.

Garg was arrested on Tuesday night after an animal rights activist complained about the cruelty meted out to the animal.

“The man beat his pet, called Oscar, under the influence of alcohol. The incident was repeated for over a week,” said activist Ashima Sharma.

Oscar, a Neapolitan Mastiff, was kept tied closely to an iron grill and sustained injuries on his eyes, she said, adding the dog has been handed over to them.

“We have sent it to Greater Noida for medical examination," Sharma said.

The police spokesperson said Garg was arrested and a case has been registered at Sahibabad police station.

Garg’s family, who reached Sahibabad police station after his arrest, refused to comment on the incident.
