A Class 12 student, who was said to be unhappy with her poor performance in her board exams, ended her life in northeast Delhi on Friday afternoon, police said.

Kalpana, a 19-year-old resident of Brahmpuri near Usmanpur, was apparently depressed over her performance in her accounts exam which was held on Friday afternoon.

“Shortly after she returned home, according to her family, she was visibly depressed and even told her parents about it,” said an officer.

According to her parents, she went to her room after the interaction and, when she didn’t come out till 4.30 pm, her parents went inside and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police said no suicide note was recovered from her possession and investigations were under way.
