While on Monday, the minimum temperature remained one degree below normal at 7.1 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature stood at 24.6 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal for this time of the year.

"Over the next two days, the maximum temperature is likely to drop to 23 degrees Celsius. Since the maximum temperature will drop, the people will feel the winter chill during the mornings. The minimum temperature will also drop to six degrees over the next two-three days," said a Met department official.

The official also added that due to misty skies over the next few days, light fog could be expected to engulf the city.

People who were out felt the increased chill. "I travel to work in an auto-rickshaw and it was much colder today than it was yesterday. Even during the afternoon, the chill could be well felt in the air," said Rashmi Mehta, a resident of Lajpat Nagar.
