Cong government ignored villages, says Goel

In his bid to mobilise support for his party ahead of the assembly elections later this year, the newly-appointed Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel on Tuesday assured a panchayat of 360 villages that his party would take up their issues.

In his bid to mobilise support for his party ahead of the assembly elections later this year, the newly-appointed Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel on Tuesday assured a panchayat of 360 villages that his party would take up their issues.

He told the village representatives that the BJP would organise a rally in Bawana on March 24.

“The Congress government has discriminated against the villages for the past 14 years. The development of villages is our top priority,” Goel said.

“We will double the compensation for acquisition of land in villages. Public transport, parks and hospitals will be constructed. No house tax will be recovered till all the amenities are provided to the villages. Lal Dora area will be extended. Additional construction will be regularised. Priority will be given to the village youth in employment. New farm policy and master plan will be reconsidered,” Goel said.

A speeding SUV rammed a school bus in Faridabad on Tuesday, causing minor injuries to three students. The incident took place on the connecting road between Sector 10 and 11 when the bus of Saint John’s school was on its way to the school carrying students.

The injured students were taken to a private hospital in Sector 10 and were later discharged after being administered first-aid.
