Cops nab touts selling illegal rail tickets

Under a drive, railway vigilance officials nabbed a bunch of unauthorised travel agents, touts, and fraudsters selling railway tickets illegally to gullible passengers.

Under a drive, railway vigilance officials nabbed a bunch of unauthorised travel agents, touts, and fraudsters selling railway tickets illegally to gullible passengers.

Looking at the ongoing summer rush, Northern Railway has intensified these so-called preventive checks.

During April-May, intensive checks were carried out in the Delhi Division by Railway Police Force (RPF) and 69 persons were prosecuted. Of these, 13 were convicted and they paid a collective fine of Rs 73,000 to Northern Railway.

Further, checks carried out by the ticket checking squad of Delhi Division at New Delhi railway station, a sum of Rs 69,420 was realised from 267 unauthorised vendors and Rs 24,700 was realised from 95 taxi drivers for overcharging the passengers. Rs 13,000 was realised from 50 unauthorised coolies. All these people were handed over to the RPF.
