Court employee sent to jail for taking bribe

A court employee was today sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment by a Special Judge for taking a bribe from a man for not executing a warrant against him.

A court employee was today sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment by a Special Judge for taking a bribe from a man for not executing a warrant against him.

Additional Sessions Judge A S Yadav also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Anil Kumar after holding him guilty under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Anti-Corruption Branch sleuths (ACB) of the Delhi Government arrested Kumar when was taking bribe of Rs 1,000 from the complainant Ravinder Lal Garg on March 14, 2001.

According to the prosecution, Garg, a resident of Punjabi Bagh, who involved in a litigation with his landlord was issued warrant by a court.

Garg was approached by Kumar demanding Rs 5,000 for not executing the warrant against him. Garg, however, approached the ACB, which arrested Kumar.
