Rejecting the closure report filed by the CBI against former Union Minster CP Thakur and others, a special CBI court issued summons against him in a corruption case for September 2. Special Judge RK Yadav said, “It would be pertinent to know that though the IO mentioned in the chargesheet that the offences are made out against them, yet it opted to file a closure on the account that sanction as contemplated by section 197 of the IPC was not accorded by the Union government. Although he was well aware that no sanction was needed in this offence”.
