A ten-member panel, comprising experts from various fields, including medical and education, was set up by the DCPCR to study the quality of medical services provided in the MCD school and Modern school where Shanno and Aakriti studied respectively.

"The panel is doing its job and the report is expected to come up in 7-10 day's time," Amod Kanth, Chairman of DCPCR, a statutory body, recommendation of which is binding, told PTI in New Delhi.

He said that the Commission has asked Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and all departments concerned to cooperate in all aspects during the investigation.

"During the probe, we visited homes of Shanno and Aakriti. We have asked for reports from educational department and police, besides sending notices to the schools concerned," he said on the sidelines of a function.

About the direction of the Delhi High Court to investigate into the issue of missing children in the city within three months, Kanth said the DCPCR is "taking reports from police and trying to contact other states" and thinking of a system with "others' help" so that nothing of that sort recur.

Shanno, an 11-year-old girl of class II died in a hospital after she was allegedly punished by her teacher of MCD Primary School on April 17.

Aakriti (17), an asthmatic patient, died on April 22 allegedly due to negligence by her school authorities who failed to provide her timely medical facilities when she suffered an asthma attack.
