The maximum and minimum temperatures were both five degrees above normal and the capital is feeling the heat even
before the month of March has ended.

The maximum temperature for the day was recorded at 38.1 degree Celsius, half a degree higher than Sundayay's
37.5, but five notches above normal for this time of the season.

The minimum meanwhile was 22.0, which was almost the same as Sunday. The humidity was recorded at 21 per cent at
5.30 pm.

The month of March saw the temperature rising to unusually high levels this year and the mercury even touched the 39 degree mark on March 21.

Last year, the maximum temperature recorded in the month of March was 34.5 degrees Celsius on the 25th while in 2008, it was 37.5 degrees on the 19th.

No relief is expected from the searing heat conditions with the weather officials predicting a further rise in
temperatures.

The Met office said the temperatures are likely to be between 39 degree and 23 degree respectively tomorrow.
