Delhi: girl suffers gunshot wound in car under mysterious circumstances

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly shot at in New Delhi under mysterious circumstances when she was travelling with her parents who are clueless as to how their daughter suffered a gunshot.

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly shot at in New Delhi under mysterious circumstances when she was travelling with her parents who are clueless as to how their daughter suffered a gunshot.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when Disha Verma, the girl, and her family was on their way to attend a wedding ceremony in north-east Delhi.

Verma started crying suddenly and complained of burning sensation in her leg. When her father checked her leg, it was bleeding.

The parents took the girl to a nursing home from where she was referred to GTB Hospital.

Doctors in the hospital at Dilshad Garden confirmed that she had suffered a gunshot wound, a police official said, adding that a case has been registered.

During questioning, Disha's father Neeraj told police that he is clueless as to how his daughter suffered gunshots while in car.

Disha's mother Dolly, brother Himanshu, sister Rism and grandmother Rani Devi, who were also in the car, also spoke on similar lines to police.
