"These personnel would be deployed at different Metro stations across the city to ensure the safety and security of female passengers and assist them," CISF spokesperson Rohit Katiyar said.

On their first day today, the women CISF personnel were seen taking advice from their seniors at major Metro stations like Rajeev Chowk, Pragati Maidan and Chandni Chowk.

The 100-member team have been trained for 50-weeks at the CISF centre in Parwaha, Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. "The members of the new team hail from different states like Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Jharkhand etc," Katiyar said.

They have been trained in different areas, including weapons handling, CISF Act, and public behaviour among others.
The new recruits said the experience of working with the metro would be a novel experience.

"Delhi is a new city to me and the Metro is such a large establishment. I am really excited," Muthu Selvi, one of the personnel, said.
