Delhi moved inches in hours near India Gate on Tuesday

The reason for the jam? Election ticket seekers from Haryana, with busloads of supporters, thronged Haryana Bhavan on Copernicus Marg and also the Congress headquarters on Akbar Road.

Apart from these two roads and the India Gate C-hexagon, traffic movement was affected at ITO crossing and on Mathura Road, Tilak Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Sikandra Road, Mandi House roundabout.

"For a change, I could get out of my office early today and was looking forward to reach home early … but this was one of the worst jams in recent time. I hardly moved a few feet over one hour," said commuter Abhik Vallabh.

However, it was not just common commuters, but VIPs too who suffered the jam session.

A Deputy Commissioner of MCD (name withheld) was held up in front of the NGMA for over half an hour, said, "This is real bad. Nobody knows the reason but the fact is, I have not moved an inch."
