Delhiites had a miserable day out in the sun on Monday with the mercury soaring to the season's highest of 41.2 degree Celsius.

Delhiites had a miserable day out in the sun on Monday with the mercury soaring to the season's highest of 41.2 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature was two degrees above normal and 2.4 degree Celsius up from the previous day's 38.8 degrees. The minimum was at 26.4 degrees, one degree above normal and up from Sunday's 24.7 degrees.

The weatherman has predicted no relief for Tuesday, as the temperature is likely to remain around 41 degree Celsius. The minimum could be 26 degree Celsius. The humidity oscillated between 22% and 73%, Met officials said.

Last year, the maximum temperature had touched 45.4 degree Celsius on May 18, the highest in the past 10 years for the month. The record maximum for May was 47.2 degree Celsius recorded on May 29, 1944.
