There was a gangrape call to the police control room but the woman withdrew her complaint. FIRs were registered in three rape calls.
A 65-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) was arrested by the north Delhi police for allegedly raping a Nepali woman on the pretext of marriage.
The accused NRI, Raj Dhingra, was arrested. Police said Dhingra lives in the US and deals in readymade garments.
The victim met Dhingra two years ago through a matrimonial website. They became friends while chatting on a social networking website.
A few months ago, the victim told Dhingra that she wanted to settle in the US and sought his help.
The Nepali woman in her complaint told the police that Dhingra proposed marriage which she accepted and the two decided to get married in Delhi.
Dhingra came to India on March 26 and met the victim. “The two met in Nehru Place from where Dhingra took her to a guest house near Majnu ka Tilla where he allegedly raped her,” said a senior police officer, quoting the victim’s complaint.
In the second incident, an eight-year-old girl was raped at knife-point by an unidentified person in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Monday evening. An FIR was filed at the Sangam Vihar police station.
In the third incident, a five-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour, a minor, at her house in outer Delhi’s Narela.
The victim was alone when the juvenile entered her house and raped her. A case has been registered.
