"I have nothing to do with the Jessica Lal murder case as I wasn't even present there (when the killing took place)," Dadwal said while addressing his first press conference as new police commissioner in New Delhi.

"The media reports regarding my presence are baseless."

Dadwal was accused of being present at the restaurant when Manu Sharma, son of Haryana politician Vinod Sharma, murdered Jessica.

Sharma shot dead Jessica Lal on the night of April 30, 1999, when she refused to serve him liquor as the bar had closed. Jessica, model and an events manager, worked as a bartender in the restaurant.
