The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 27.6 degrees Celsius. The humidity was recorded at 64 per cent.
"There will be no respite from the scorching heat in the coming days as the temperature will remain around the 40 degrees Celsius mark," said an official at the Safdarjung meteorological office.
The Met officials have forecast mainly clear sky with the maximum temperature hovering around the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
Due to the heat, the residents of Delhi mostly remained indoors during the day.
"The weather was so hot that I decided not to step out despite it being a weekend. Even in the evening I could feel the heat," said Sangita Singh, a financial consultant.
