Demolition at 5-star hotel
The MCD sealing squad demolished part of unauthorised construction at five-star hotel Uppal Orchid at Samalkha in South West Delhi. According to the MCD officials Uppal Orchid was served a notice by the civic body to demolish all the unauthorised constructions in their premises, however they didn’t take any action.
The demolition was carried out on the directions of the high court appointed Monitoring Committee. The MCD demolition squad had reached the spot at 3.30 pm on Monday.
"Uppal Orchid was served a notice by the MCD to demolish all the unauthorised construction in the premises. They were given adequate time to carry out the demolition, however, they failed to do so. The demolition squad had gone there on Monday but only partial demolition was carried out," said Deep Mathur, Director Press and Information, MCD.
According to the MCD, the Monitoring Committee has been monitoring the case of unauthorised construction at Uppal Orchid and had issued directions on the basis of Technical Committee’s report on illegal construction. In the past too, the civic body had carried out demolition at Uppal Orchid on the directions of the High court.
