Demolition drives in east, north Delhi

Cracking down on illegal constructions, the North and East Delhi municipal corporations on Tuesday demolished the extensions of 38 properties under their jurisdictions for flouting norms.

While the north corporation demolished 20 properties in Rohini, Pitampura, Nihal Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Nangloi, Peeragarhi and Rani Bagh under Rohini zone and two properties in Chawri Bazar and Seeta Ram Bazar under the city zone, the east civic body sent its bulldozers to 16 properties in Shahdara, Sunder Nagri, Nand Nagri, Chauhan Bangar, Zafarabad, Dilshad Garden, Seelampur, Gautampuri, West Karawal Nagar, Mukund Vihar and Khajoori Khas under Shahdara north zone.

The building departments of the respective zones carried out the demolition drive with the help of the local police."The building mafia has been carrying out rampant construction in several parts of the city and we are not going to spare them," a north corporation official said.
