The auto driver and one of his passengers was killed while the other two in the auto were injured. The accident took place in Delhi Cantonment at 11.30 pm on Saturday — two hours after the police launched a drive against drink-driving.
Nivedita Singh is the wife of Colonel Rahul Singh, who was transferred to the Capital from Chandigarh this month itself.
"Singh was returning to her Arjan Vihar residence from a get-together at a friend's home in Dhaula Kuan," said additional DCP (southwest) Parmaditya.
"The woman — driving at 100-130 kmph, as evidenced by the deployment of both front airbags — lost her bearings and collided with the auto," said a police officer.
The auto driver — Raj Kumar (46), a father of five — and sweet shop owner Ved Prakash Gupta (53) were killed instantly.
Singh has been booked for causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
"She was released on bail," the officer said.
