“The eligible candidates are informed that the registration process for UG courses will be completely online including Sports, Extra Curricular Activities, Kashmiri Migrants and CW (Defence) category,” said registrar Tarun Das.

From this year, applicants will be required to submit their self-attested documents online along with the central registration form. Documents include Class 10 certificates, Class 12 provisional certificate, character certificate and transfer certificate.

The students will also have to upload their recent photograph and scanned copy of their signature in the online form. “The candidates will be required to upload all their self-attested documents online,” the university said in a statement on Friday.

Till 2015, these documents used to be submitted to the particular college at the time of admission.

Similarly for students applying under the reserved category, documents signed by the competent authority will have to be uploaded, Das said. Students also have to submit income certificate.

Reservation is given to SC/ST, OBC and people with physical disability. There is also a Kashmiri Migrant and Children of War Widow category under which 5 % seats are reserved. These seats are supernumerary.

For those applying under Children of War Widows category, education concession certificate has to be submitted online. This year the admission under this category is online unlike last year, when admissions were done at the university conference center.

Students applying under Sports and ECA quota will have to submit distinction certificates of the last three years in descending order starting from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2016.

The announcement came as a relief to students and parents as this year DU has delayed the process even as the admission committee had decided to start the admission process from May 28.

University officials said that the delay was due to technical issues as the entire process is going online. “We are trying to make the system better. We are working on some issues as this year registration process will be only online and it will take some technical improvements,” said a senior official.

Commenting on the delay, vice-chancellor Yogesh Tyagi said, “There has been no delay in the process. I understand the apprehension of students and parents”.
