These days, it has become impossible to charge the inverter’s battery. “Due to scarcity of water, we use water pumps. If there is no electricity, there isn’t any water either,” Chugh said.
And since he lives in a DDA colony, there is no provision for power back-up either.
For Ram Narain, a retired government official from Dwarka Sector 6, things are slightly better as his residential society has power back-up. But that comes at a cost. Moreover, there have been instances when even this arrangement has failed.
“The past four days have been bearable. But before that, we were going through three to four-hour-long cuts. Our area is surrounded by a number of unauthorised colonies where power theft is a regular affair,” said Narain.
