EC notice to Uddhav for remarks against PM

Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has been slapped with a notice by the Election Commission for alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a rally.

Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has been slapped with a notice by the Election Commission for alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a rally.

Thackeray who was to respond to the EC notice on Thursday has sought extension of time, Deputy Election Commissioner J P Prakash told reporters.

A complaint has already been registered by the Mumbai police against the Shiv Sena leader.

The complaint was filed since Uddhav Thackeray's speech made was allegedly in violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the leader had allegedly made derogatory statements against the Prime Minister, a police official had said.
