Ex-navy officer arrested for issuing fake permits

The Delhi Police have arrested a former navy officer, 44 for forging permits and issuing fake fitness certificates for commercial vehicles.

The Delhi Police have arrested a former navy officer,44 for forging permits and issuing fake fitness certificates for commercial vehicles. Police said, the accused, identified as Harvinder Khurana, used to scan genuine permits on his computer and then alter the details as the per requirements of his clients.

Police have recovered a laptop, a desktop with a printer and scanner, 20 rubber stamps belonging to the RTO, Gurgaon, forged national permits with nationalised bank challan and holograms used on national permit from him. During the interrogation, Khurana told the police that he has so far prepared over 100 national permits fraudulently.

The computer's hard disk has been seized to ascertain the number of such documents he has forged.

"A national permit for a commercial vehicle is issued for a year and costs about Rs. 15,000- Rs. 20,000. However, he sometimes charged his clients the same even for a fake one," a senior police officer said.
