In what could be termed as an initiative with far-reaching results, the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) is in the process of issuing ‘identification numbers’ to residents of more than 100 colonies.

Officials said the allotment of ID numbers is aimed at creating a database of houses in Faridabad. “Since there is no complete data of any colony here, we decided to create a reliable database,” said MCF commissioner D Suresh.
“We will be issuing ID numbers to Faridabad colonies very soon,” he said.
“A private company has been entrusted with the task of installing ID number plates in houses, under the public private partnership model.”
Work will begin very soon and once it is completed, the municipal corporation will be in a position to plan how and from whom taxes are to be realised, he added.
“So far, without any authentic database of houses under the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, developmental planning and tax realisation
are not being undertaken properly. There are more than 100 colonies in Faridabad. Of these, about 52-59 unauthorised colonies are in different stages of regularisation. About 50 colonies have already been regularised. “It’s a good idea which everyone will appreciate,” said Mukesh Sharma, senior deputy mayor, Faridabad.
