Kartar Singh, a native of Bhora Kalan in Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, was protesting along with around 50,000 farmers at the BJP’s office at Ashoka Road since Friday morning.

According to a police officer, Singh died around 2pm due to non-availability of water at the protest site under the scorching sun.

“The farmers were showing solidarity with farmers of Madhya Pradesh’s Annupur district, whose lands were acquired by the government for a thermal power plant in 2010,” said the police officer.
