The increasing bonhomie between India and the Sheikh Hasina-led Bangladesh government has resulted in considerable reduction in firing incidents on the Indo-Bangla border.

In fact, during home secretary level talks between the two countries here on Saturday, both sides appreciated the visible ground results in this regard.

India and Bangladesh had inked the crucial Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) when home minister P Chidambaram visited Dhaka in July this year. After the pact, the Border Security Force (BSF), guarding India-Bangladesh border, started maintaining utmost restraint. The guards were asked to open fire only on those situations when their life was in danger.
