Fear of losing property worth crores to his sister made a property dealer to allegedly hire professional hitmen and murder her husband, Delhi Police said on Monday after arresting four men in connection with the killing of the businessman.

Dinesh Mittal, the property dealer and brother-in-law of victim Arun Gupta, was apprehensive of the businessman trying to sell off a farmhouse owned by the Mittal family, valued at about Rs 100 crore, police said.

He was also of the impression that Gupta and his wife Sadhna were also trying to grab Rs 10.5 crore fixed deposit, Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal told reporters announcing the arrest of four persons, including Mittal.

Dinesh got this information through a property dealer and enraged at this he decided to allegedly eliminate both of them, he said.

The other three arrested were identified as Mohd Haroon (37), Mittal's employee who introduced hitmen to him, and Junaid and Mohd Pervez (both of them are contract killers)

Shakeel and Abu Zar, who were along with Junaid when they allegedly shot dead Gupta on April seven in Kalkaji, were absconding, Dadwal said.

The role of Gupta's other brother-in-law Sneh is not yet ascertained even as police have interrogated both the Mittal brothers in connection with the case after Gupta family suspected their role in the murder.

The breakthrough in the case came seven days after Gupta was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne men in Kalkaji.

The planning of the murder was dated back to January when Haroon introduced Pervez and Afroz to Dinesh after he confided about the problems he was facing, Dadwal said.

Dinesh allegedly asked Pervez and Afroz, two alleged hitmen, to "help him" and reached on a Rs ten lakh agreement for the "work". They allegedly accepted Rs five lakh as advance.

However, the duo later changed mind and approached one Ibne Hasan, another alleged hitman, and paid Rs two lakh to him, Dadwal said, adding Hasan could not carry out the attack as he was arrested in Uttar Pradesh in another case.

Pervez then allegedly hired his brother-in-law Junaid for murdering Gupta and paid Rs two lakh, he said adding the latter hired two others, Shakeel and Abu Zar, for the purpose.

Junaid and the two men he hired made a number of recce in the Kalkaji area on March 16, April 2 and April 6 before allegedly committing the crime, Dadwal said.

After committing the murder, Shakeel and Abu Zar left for their village while Junaid went to Pervez and collected the money, he said.

Pervez was caught on Saturday and on his instance police arrested Haroon, who admitted to have hiring Pervez and Afroz. Pervez and Haroon have been remanded to ten-day police custody.

Police also had released sketches of the bikers who shot at Gupta last week. The relations with both the families soured after the death of Gupta's father-in-law Madanlal Mittal last year.
