The rally of the All India Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association led to heavy traffic jam at the capital's busy Connaught Place.

Long lines of buses and cars were seen on the arterial roads of Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Barkhamba Road, Tolstoy Road and Parliament Street as lawyers took out their protest march, demanding withdrawal of a CrPC amendment.

Gatherings of Haryana Roadways Joint Action Committee and Bhartiya Kisan Union, which began at Ram Lila ground and ended at Jantar Mantar, added to the woes of commuters in the capital.

Commissioner of Police YS Dadwal expressed inability to handle such traffic crises.

"We are a vibrant democracy. It happens once in a while. I do not know how to tackle it. We are giving traffic advisories and we want cooperation from public," Dadwal told reporters.
