The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict, Hasibul Rehman.
Upset with his friend, Tarikul, for spurning his sexual advances, Rehman attacked him with a soft drink bottle, smashing it on his head and fatally injuring him in February 2007 in their house, said the prosecution.
Tarikul and Rehman shared a room with three others at Shakarpur in east Delhi.
“Keeping in view all the facts and the testimonies of witnesses supported by the medical evidence and the conduct of the accused fleeing from the spot... the prosecution has successfully proved and established its case against the accused,” additional sessions judge VK Bansal said while convicting Rehman.
