Eyewitnesses said the accident took place when workers were launching the girder with the help of a crane.

“As they were launching the girder, at a height of 15 feet, two labourers were holding the iron girder to provide necessary support. Due to some malfunction, the crane's chain cracked and the whole structure fell on one of the labourers, identified as Feroz,” a senior police officer said, requesting anonymity.
