"Good sense has prevailed on the government. It admits that price rise is an issue of major concern not only to political parties but is agitating people as well," Raja said.

"The opposition parties are also reasonable," he said.

The CPI leader said that the formulation on price rise to be discussed in Parliament will urge upon the government to take adequate measures to check prices.

He said that price rise was a "most burning issue" but the opposition parties also wanted to raise other issues.

The deadlock between the government and opposition parties was broken at the breakfast meeting Monday convened by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee with leaders of various political parties.

The proceedings of both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were disrupted last week over the impasse on the nature of discussion on rising prices. The opposition, including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Left, were insisting on discussing the issue under rules that entails voting.

"The discussion over the price rise issue will take place Tuesday," Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Sitaram Yechury told reporters after the breakfast meeting.

Asked under which rule the debate would be held, Yechury said: "Under no rule. It is Pranab Mukherjee's rule."
