Govt concerned of exam burden on students: Sibal

In the wake of certain students allegedly committing suicide due to examination stress, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday said the government is concerned over the increasing pressure on school children.

In the wake of certain students allegedly committing suicide due to examination stress, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on Thursday said the government is concerned over the increasing pressure on school children.

"There is huge burden on students. We are concerned about it. But it would not be appropriate to make any comment on any individual case," he told reporters when asked to comment on the issue of suicide by students.

He said the examination system needs reforms to ensure that the students were not overstressed.

Three students in Mumbai and a student in Delhi allegedly committed suicide in the last one-week either due to exam pressure or problems in career, police have said.
