After the Delhi Government recommended that the maintenance of major Capital roads, which add up to about 500km, should be brought under the purview of the PWD for better results, the MCD today took strong exception and termed the move “unconstitutional, motivated by ulterior political interest”.

The MCD Standing Committee chairman Yogender Chandolia urged Delhi Lt governor Tejendra Khanna to reject this proposal in public interest. Criticising the government, he said the government was “wrongly blaming” the MCD for not maintaining the roads.
