Gurdwara body steps in to help flood victims

Singh said this has been the “biggest ever operation undertaken by DSGMC” which has ensured the rescue and evacuation of victims irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion. The relief and rescue operations were started on June 19 and till date DSGMC has been able to evacuate more than 4,000 stranded persons to safer locations by deploying two chartered aircraft, 100 executive buses and 80 multi-utility vehicles.

Those evacuated include pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

The DSGMC president said it has placed its disaster management teams at places such as Badrinath, Joshimath, Gochar, Govind Ghat and Rishikesh. It has also made Guru Ka Langar operational 24x7 at Rishikesh and Gochar since June 20.
