The authorities warned of action if vehicles were found parked outside the premises. Senior town planner Kamal Kumar has shot notices to almost all malls situated on MG Road and Gurgaon Expressway and office complexes in the DLF Cybercity and other locations in Gurgaon.

The recipients of the notices include known developers such as DLF, Ansal, Emaar MGF, Unitech, Ambience, Vipul, Vatika, JMD and Omaxe.

The move came after the Gurgaon police commissioner, along with divisional commissioner T.K. Sharma and district town planner (enforcement) B.K. Saini, paid surprise visits to a number of malls and office complexes on May 25.
The visits revealed that almost all developers had been violating the zoning norms specified in the developers’ licence. The developers had leased out parking spaces in their basements to mall occupants, while the visitors were forced to park on the roads outside, which disrupted normal traffic flow.

The notice issued by Kumar said the developers were duty-bound to follow the provisions and use the parking areas according to the parameters mentioned in their approved zoning plan.

Though most developers avoided media queries on the subject, a Unitech official said they had implemented the parking norms in their Business Park and Cyber Park. The official claimed they had allowed visitors, including cabs, to park on the buildings’ premises.

“We don’t have vehicles parked anymore outside the two buildings as we have started implementing the parking norms after the visit of the police commissioner and other officials,” said a Unitech official on the condition of anonymity.
