HC directs IMA to reenter former chief's name in list
The Delhi High Court today directed the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to enter the name of its former President, which was removed from the list of Central Council members making him ineligible from contesting this year's election.
The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to enter the name of its former President, which was removed from the list of Central Council members making him ineligible from contesting this year's election.
Justice Mool Chand Garg also appointed Justice SK Aggarwal, a retired High Court judge, as observer to conduct the election as per the rules of the IMA.
The election process would start from July 1.
The court was hearing a petition filed by former IMA President Dr KK Aggarwal seeking a direction to IMA for illegally deleting his name making him ineligible to contest the election.
"The action of the IMA is arbitrary, illegal, malafide, high-handed and unconstitutional...." the petitioner said.
Aggarwal, who has been associated with the IMA for more than a decade, also sought a direction declaring the existing electoral list as null and void.
