The three municipal agencies, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and the Delhi Cantonment board have to file the report within three weeks. The next hearing for the case is on May 15.

The court passed the order on a PIL filed by advocate Ashok Aggarwal on behalf of the NGO Social Jurist, seeking direction to the authorities for the pathetic condition of toilets for women across the city and the alleged failure of the civic agencies to maintain them.

The petitioner referred to a report of a survey conducted in South and New Delhi areas and submitted before the court that several such toilets were non-functional.

The survey, done by a student, reported that adequate number of toilets for women were non-existent and the existing ones were not being maintained properly.
