In the past one week, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has been frisked twice on his visit to two Games venues to check the security preparedness. The Delhi Police functions under the Home Ministry.

On Thursday, security personnel at the gates of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium frisked the minister when he was entering the premises.

"The minister underwent the security procedure that any person is supposed to. He had to show his accreditation card at the entrance. When the details matched the data fed in the card reader, he was allowed entry. He was also bodily searched through a hand held metal detector," said a senior police officer.

Before this, the minister had to leave his official car and walk down a considerable distance at the Siri Fort Sports Complex on Wednesday as the card reader installed at the entry point was non-functional. "We are not sparing anyone and frisking everyone entering the venue premises," said the officer.
