A house and a shop were burgled in different areas of the Capital while the families were out celebrating the excitement surrounding the India-Pakistan semi-final match.

The house of a doctor couple in west Delhi’s Tagore Garden area was burgled and cash and jewellery worth Rs 12.5 lakh was stolen on Wednesday afternoon when the family was out for lunch.

The police said the couple had taken their children to a restaurant for lunch for pre India-Pakistan semi-final match celebrations.

According to the police, the incident occurred between 11.45am and 1.30pm in Tagore Garden’s D block area under Rajouri Garden police station.

The police said the complainant Rajneesh Narang said his house was ransacked when they returned home after lunch.

In a similar incident, thieves struck at a garment shop in southwest Delhi’s Dabri area and fled with cash over Rs 35 lakh on Thursday.

According to the police, the incident was reported at 9:15am on Thursday from Tayal Cloth House located in KJ-1 Block in Rajapuri area in Dabri. The police said that the shop owner Khushi Ram Tayal, a resident of Vijay Vihar in Uttam Nagar, found one of the wall broken and cash missing from a safe. HTC
