"As Prime Minister of the country I am accountable to parliament, to people at large," Manmohan Singh said, two days after an air crash in Mangalore that led to union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel offering his resignation. Singh did not accept it.
"There are issues which have to be tackled, we have to go into the causes of these tragedies," the Prime Minister said. He added that this had to be done to ensure that "so far as humanly possible these accidents are not repeated again and again."
