Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has defended himself staunchly against allegations of road rage and violence. Rubbishing reports that he manhandled and beat up a guard at a toll plaza near Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday evening, the sitting MP from Amritsar said, “I am the victim here. We crossed the toll from the VIP lane and my driver waved to the attendant, indicating that an MP is travelling. Suddenly one of the attendants hurled a rod at my car, smashing the windshield. The rod missed me just by a second.”

As for reports that he dragged two guards into his car, he says, “I was half asleep when this incident happened, I didn’t even step out of the car!” He explains that at the next toll gate, officers came and apologised for the attendant’s behaviour. “While I was at the function I was en route to, the attendant was arrested. I don’t know why I am being blamed when I was actually the victim.”
