IIt-delhi to aid collapse probe
The Delhi Police have sought the technical assistance of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to investigate into the incident where an under-construction structure near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed on Tuesday.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police was handed over the case a day ago on the directions of the Delhi High Court. The police have written a letter to the IIT, Delhi, on Thursday, asking for their help to ascertain if there was a structural fault in the collapsed bridge. Chandigarh-based P&R Infrastructure was entrusted with the construction work of the bridge at a cost of R5.17 crore. The police said they have recorded the statement of some of the labourers.
