IIt-delhi to aid collapse probe

The Delhi Police have sought the technical assistance of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to investigate into the incident where an under-construction structure near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed on Tuesday.

The Delhi Police have sought the technical assistance of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to investigate into the incident where an under-construction structure near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed on Tuesday.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police was handed over the case a day ago on the directions of the Delhi High Court. The police have written a letter to the IIT, Delhi, on Thursday, asking for their help to ascertain if there was a structural fault in the collapsed bridge. Chandigarh-based P&R Infrastructure was entrusted with the construction work of the bridge at a cost of R5.17 crore. The police said they have recorded the statement of some of the labourers.
