New Delhi’s brief and guarded statement comes a day after reports emerged from the capital Tripoli that anti-Gaddafi rebels had effectively taken control of the embattled city after a prolonged battle for it.
“We are closely monitoring the developments...there are indications that the situation in is changing and the recent events in Tripoli indicate that the Transitional National Council is acquiring control.”
The statement from the ministry of external affairs added, “the situation in the country should be normalised by the people of Libya themselves in a peaceful manner, adhering to democratic norms and with respect for aspirations of the people.”
