India regretful over breach of security at Chinese Embassy

Expressing regret over the incident, India has assured to take appropriate security measures at the Chinese Embassy, which has the largest complex among the Diplomatic Missions in Delhi.

India has conveyed its regret to China over the storming of its Embassy by a group of Tibetan protestors last week after Beijing voiced its concern over the incident and sought stepped up security at the Mission.

The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi registered its concern with the External Affairs Ministry soon after last Friday's incident. Chinese Foreign Ministry has also conveyed its concern to the Indian Embassy in Beijing.

Expressing regret over the incident, India has assured to take appropriate security measures at the Chinese Embassy, which has the largest complex among the Diplomatic Missions in Delhi, sources said in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Subsequently, security has been beefed up at the Mission, virtually turning it into a fortress. The Chinese side, which had earlier been appreciative of the security measures taken by India, has raised questions over how the Tibetan protestors managed to storm the Embassy complex despite heavy presence of Delhi Police personnel outside.

It has stated that in the wake of last Friday's incident, it was concerned over the security of the Embassy and its staff, the sources said.

A group of Tibetan protestors had stormed into the Embassy complex breaching the security outside the mission. Security at the Mission has been enhanced with deployment of additional forces and sealing of the peripheral roads of the Embassy.
