Inquiry ordered into death of 3 CRPF personnel due to heat

The inquiry was orderded by CRPF Director General Vikram Srivastava late last night after 10 personnel, who had come from Jammu and Kashmir for a pre-promotional training course, fell unconcious due to heat stroke.

A high-level inquiry has been instituted by the CRPF into the death of its three personnel due to heat stroke at a training centre in Gwalior.

The inquiry was orderded by CRPF Director General Vikram Srivastava late last night after 10 personnel, who had come from Jammu and Kashmir for a pre-promotional training course, fell unconcious due to heat stroke, official sources said today.

The inquiry would be headed by Additional Director General (Training) Rakesh Jaruar and would be assisted by Director (Medical Help) Dr. A K Dhawan.

Three victims - head constables Vinyga, Dinesh Chand and S N Yadav - were in the Weapons and Tactical pre-promotion course at the Central Training College in Gwalior.

The incident took place yesterday at about one pm when the local temperature was about 45 degree Celsius, they said.

10 personnel were rushed to a hospital but the three died during treatment, officials said, adding the seven others were receiving treatment.
