Four Nigerians and two Afghan nationals have been arrested in this case.

NCB’s Delhi zone — that had been tracking the suspects for nearly 25 days — called the seizure one of the biggest in recent times in the Capital.

The officers had initially intercepted an Afghan national — who was to supply the drugs to the Nigerian drug traffickers — and seized 4.4 kg of high grade heroin from him. This suspect named another Afghan national as his source, leading to raids that led to seizure of another 5.8 kg of heroin.

NCB sources say, they revealed that the heroin had been brought through the Indo-Pak border via land and air routes. Passengers travelling to India for medical treatment or of their relatives were paid to act as couriers.

Raids at the premises of Nigerian nationals led to the seizure of more heroin.

The Nigerian cartel revealed that they get heroin from Afghan nationals in bulk and then they further smuggle it to Canada, America and European countries through Nigerian associates.
