IP University teachers to protest against V-C

After Delhi University and Delhi Technological University, it is the turn of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University's (GGSIPU) teachers’ association to protest against its vice-chancellor.

The newly formed teachers' association at GGSIPU, after trying to meet the vice-chancellor as a collective and being ignored, is planning to approach Delhi government's minister of higher education and also issue a legal notice to the vice- chancellor.
"We wrote to the V-C again on Monday, requesting him to meet the teachers' association. We also reminded him of some outstanding issues that need redressal. His reticence to meet us, his tendency to not treat us as stakeholders in academic decisions and his attempt to stonewall IPUTA is a deterrent to the welfare of the university," said a member of the association, on condition of anonymity.
This unrest among teachers at GGSIPU comes after an ongoing tussle between the Delhi University Teachers Association and the DU administration that has been going on for three years now.
The GGSIPU vice chancellor, DK Bandopadhyay, meanwhile, said that he does not recognise any teachers' association.
"When a teacher is employed, the contract is between an individual and the university, not between the association. As far as the grievances are concerned, we have a grievance committee. Any teacher can go there and file a complaint,” said Bandopadhyay.
